Na een uitverkocht concert in 2023 keert new-folkzangeres Alela Diane terug naar LantarenVenster. Ze valt op door haar bijzondere en bezwerende ‘kampvuurspel’: haar warme stem wordt ondersteund door eenvoudig gitaarspel. Ze schrikt er niet voor terug bepaalde tekstregels als een mantra te herhalen, iets wat kenmerkend is voor de gospelinvloeden die haar songs kleuren.
Alela’s vijfde soloalbum Cusp nam ze op terwijl ze in verwachting was van haar tweede dochter. In 2021 verscheen het prachtige Live At The Map Room, dat ze samen met Heather Woods Broderick en Mirabai Peart maakte. In oktober 2022 volgde Looking Glass, een album vol zachte folkliedjes met een emotioneel en hoopvol randje. In mei presenteert ze in LantarenVenster de liedjes van een nieuw album dat dit voorjaar verschijnt.

Following a sold-out concert in 2023, new-folk singer Alela Diane returns to LantarenVenster. She stands out for her unique and spellbinding ‘campfire style’: her warm voice is accompanied by simple guitar playing. She does not shy away from repeating certain lines of lyrics like a mantra, a trait characteristic of the gospel influences that colour her songs.
Alela recorded her fifth solo album, Cusp, whilst expecting her second daughter. In 2021, the beautiful Live At The Map Room was released, which she created together with Heather Woods Broderick and Mirabai Peart. This was followed in October 2022 by Looking Glass, an album full of gentle folk songs with an emotional and hopeful edge. In May, she will present the songs from a new album, due for release this spring, at LantarenVenster.
